Oh Scrap! : A Goal for December from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

I am still working away on a number of scrap quilts I started making in 2021.

I made a few more of these Two Bit blocks in purple.  This was a Rainbow Scrap Challenge quilt I started about mid year and have missed making blocks a couple of months.

I had the pieces for one of these already cut.  I found it recently when straightening up.

I also cut and sewed this one.  Once it was finished, I really didn't like the gray I used.  I am a bit afraid it is going to stand out a bit too ...

Oh Scrap! : Look at me Go from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

After being in a heat induced funk for a couple weeks, I have finally found my found my mojo and started sewing again.

I finished three of these scrappy blue and turquoise blocks for one of my Rainbow Scrap Challenge quilts.  These blocks are made using my Two Bits Scrap Mixology pattern module.  I think these blocks bring the total completed up to 23 - which is about half of what I need for the quilt.

I also finished up two more of these color blocks in turquoise.  I am making mine with 2" strips and trimming them to 12" square ...

Oh Scrap! : Playing with the Red Scraps from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

First, I want to wish all the moms out there a Happy Mother's Day!

I was finally able to get out my red scraps and work a bit on my Rainbow Scrap Challenge quilts.  First up were some Two Bit blocks (the pattern is one of my Scrap Mixology modules).

I am challenging myself to get a bit bold with the low volume prints I am using in my blocks.
We will see how it looks when it is all finished!

I also finished some red Well Suited blocks.

And then turned the bonus triangles from the flying geese ...

Oh Scrap! : More RSC Mixology Blocks from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

Oh my!  Temperatures in Eugene Oregon reached 80 degrees Saturday.  I was in heaven working in my gardens most of the day.

I still found quite a bit of time to sew up more of my Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks.  I finished up one more of my blue Well Suited blocks.  I only made three last week and I need 4 of each color for my quilt.  I found a nice light blue solid for the geese blocks.

Last month, I didn't finish all of my RSC blocks.  So I quickly sewed up the 3 Two Bits blocks in ...

Oh Scrap! : Yellow from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

A new month means we have a new Rainbow Scrap Challenge color.  And for February the color yellow was chosen.

I am working on numerous RSC quilts this year so I thought I would start the month out by making my Scrap Mixology blocks.

My yellow scrap bin is not that full right now.  It hasn't been that long since we had this color so not that many scraps have multiplied.  I made my newest interpretation of my Two Bits pattern.

I added them to the pink blocks I made last month.  The colors are much brighter in the ...

Oh Scrap! : More RSC Blocks from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

It seems that I have taken on a number of Rainbow Scrap Challenge quilts this year.  So I have been keeping pretty busy making all my pink blocks.

The first blocks I made this week were the ones made from my Well Suited pattern.  This is the first module of my Scrap Mixology pattern series.  When I make my flying geese, I immediately turned the bonus triangles into those cute little pinwheels.  I am not sure yet what I am going to do with them.

I also made the blocks I have been planning using my Two Bits pattern.  I ...

Strawberry Lemonade from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

Or, it can be called Kissing Pinwheels.  I think of both when I think of this quilt.

I had a bunch of trimmed or "bonus" triangles in blacks and whites so I decided to turn them into tiny pinwheels.  I knew they would be perfect for one of my Scrap Mixology designs.  Then I pulled one of my favorite color combinations of scraps.

There are so many ways to lay out these blocks - but I loved this one where the pinwheels "kiss".

Now this quilt just needs a sweet little girl to gift it too!

Even though I have been ...

Scrap Mixology : Two Bits from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

Behind the scenes, I have been working diligently to complete more of my newest pattern series and their supporting quilts.

Today I am ready to announce my second Scrap Mixology module - Two Bits.

This module is to help you turn some of your scrappy strings into some fun and colorful quilts.
You might remember this RSC quilt I finished in 2019.
This quilt was the inspiration for this pattern sheet.

The Scrap Mixology pattern series all follow the same format.  They are designed to help you sew up your scraps so don't expect to find yardage requirements (not that ...

Orphan Block Inspiration from Quilting Is More Fun Than Housework

Remember these orphan blocks I decided to build a quilt around?

I had a total of 15 blocks that measured abut 6" square.  I modified the blocks a bit and then pulled scraps in these muted shades to make a quilt.

Here is the quilt I ended up making.  I wasn't sure I would have enough scraps in these colors but I ended up having plenty.  I also had to make one more "orphan" so I could go with a 16 block layout.

These are not colors I use very often so it was nice to clean these odd ...
